About this guide
This site is a planning guide to Koh Lipe, an island in Thailand’s far south. It is for travellers working out the practical side of a trip: how to reach the jetty, which boat to take across, where to sleep and eat, which beaches and reefs to visit, what the weather does through the year and which tours are on offer.
The site stands on its own. No ferry line, resort, booking agent or government office owns it or pays for it.
Sources behind each page
Guide pages are built from facts taken from named public sources: government and official sites, the operators’ own pages, booking agents, Wikivoyage, Wikipedia and the news. The table shows which sources carry the most facts and how far the checking has got.
| Source | Facts | Link |
|---|---|---|
| Wikivoyage | 125 | |
| Google Maps | 66 | |
| Irene Resort | 47 | |
| Wikipedia | 42 | |
| Adang Sea Divers | 38 | |
| Castaway Resort | 26 | |
| Serendipity Beach Resort | 26 | |
| Wapi Resort | 26 | |
| And 42 more sources | 307 | – |
- Facts on file: 703
- Checked against their source: 683
- Last check: October 2026
- Tour links opened and checked by a person: 15 (checked October 2026)
- Places to eat and drink checked by a person on Google Maps: 17 (checked October 2026)
- Data refresh: every 2 to 3 months
Keeping the facts fresh
Each live site gets a data refresh on a set cycle, and the table shows how long that cycle is. During a refresh, a batch of facts is compared again with the live pages they came from. The oldest go first, along with the ones that change most often, such as fares, fees, timetables and the months a place opens. The same pass tests every source link, every linked tour page and every place to stay.
When a source has stopped showing a fact, that fact gets a flag rather than vanishing without notice. Then one of three things happens: it is corrected from the source, moved to a better source, or removed from the page.
Choosing tours, food and beds
Tours. The site links to tours sold on GetYourGuide, Klook and Viator, which run affiliate programmes. A booking made through one of those links may earn the site a commission, and the reader pays the same price. A person chooses each tour from that booking site’s own Koh Lipe list and opens the tour page first. It is linked only if its title names Koh Lipe and it is still available. A page that has disappeared never gets linked. The sellers appear in a fixed sequence, led by whichever listed the most Koh Lipe tours when the site was planned, with a default order after that.
Food and drink. Candidates come from Google Maps listings around the island’s main areas. Someone opened each listing in a browser and checked it before it went on the site. The table runs by area first, then by the places people look up by name, then in the order Maps returned them. Rating never sets the order. Any rating shown is Google’s, dated to the day it was read, and no place paid to appear.
Places to stay. These are the stays travellers search for by name, the most searched at the top. Each card names the sources behind its price, what is included and who it suits. No stay carries a booking link for now. One appears only once a person has tested it in a browser and the booking site has approved the site’s account.
Money plays no part in any of these choices. What a business pays never decides whether it is listed, where it sits or whether it is dropped, and nobody can buy a place or a higher spot.
Fixing errors
Seen something wrong? Send a note via the contact page. The bottom of every guide page carries its page history, a dated record of each change.
Things this site never claims
- Trip stories from its own visits. Nobody connected with the site is presented as having been there.
- Reviews of its own.
- Ratings it made up. Every rating is taken from a booking site or Google Maps and shown with its date.
- Placements that someone paid for.
The full process is set out on how we check facts.
