The lane, its beaches and a day trip
Walking Street links two of Koh Lipe’s three main beaches2, and the third, Sunset Beach, is on the west side3. Every stop below is on Lipe itself, except a boat trip across the channel to Ko Adang.
About ten minutes coast to coast1
Phuket Ferry, a ferry booking site, says the lane works as the island’s high street1. It is where you run errands: the pharmacy, the ATMs and the ferry agents1 are all here.
The lane starts in the town centre, close to Pattaya Beach4. Divers will find dive shops along it, and Ko Lipe Diving is 200 m from Pattaya Beach3.
It suits backpackers too. Phuket Ferry says a budget room costs about 500 THB4 a night, and Wikivoyage lists these hostels on the lane (per night):
Compare them with beach resorts in the where to stay guide.
Evenings are when Walking Street fills up. Seafood grills are set up outside the restaurants after dark, and Phuket Ferry says this is where most of the island eats in the evening1.
Two places on the lane to start with:
For more restaurants and bars across the island, see the food and drink guide.
Pattaya Beach is the busy end of Walking Street. Phuket Ferry calls it the island’s main beach and arrival point4, so most visitors see it first.
It suits a night out: Wikivoyage says it has more nightlife than the other beaches3. Getting there needs no planning, as the beach sits at one end of the lane.
Sunrise Beach (Hat Chao Ley) is on the east side3, at the far end of Walking Street from Pattaya Beach. Walk the lane to the end to reach it.
The Sunrise end has its own stops:
For sunset, go to Sunset Beach (Hat Pramong). Wikivoyage rates it best for sunset views, and it is the smaller beach, on the west side3.
It is off Walking Street, so pick your route:

Ko Adang is the bigger island next door: Koh Lipe lies directly south of Ko Adang and Ko Rawi2. It has a hilly interior covered in dense jungle, with two waterfalls5.
It suits walkers, with Pirate Falls, a 90-minute hike each way, and Chado Cliff3. Koh Lipe sits outside the park’s jurisdiction3, but its neighbours fall under Tarutao National Marine Park, which charges entry.
| Ticket | Adult | Child |
